D. H. Lorens (D. H. Lawrence) stvara svoj romanenskni svet u skladu sa dominantnim elementima epohe moderne književnosti , ali i pomoću preuzimanja elemenata romantičarske poetike, kreirajući svet svoje proze kroz prizmu vlastite osećajnosti, nadahnuća i biografskih elemenata. Polazeći od osnovnih načela kojima se rukovodio, a u stvaranju svojih romana, u ovom radu bavićemo se piščevim opsesivnim temama, koje su tesno vezane za njegovo detinjstvo i ranu mladost. Najviše pažnje posvetićemo slici majke i problemu identiteta glavnog junaka romana Sinovi i ljubavnici, njegovog ljubavnog opredeljenja i vezanosti za majku, kao i umetničkog stvaranja. Analiza njegovog identiteta, odrastanja, upućensti na majku, zasnivaće se na Frojdovom tumačenju incestuoznih nagonskih i stvaralačkih potencijala, problema odvajanja, Jungovih arhetipska mesta u romanu, snagu nesvesnog kao riznice stvaralačkog procesa, koja upućuje na život, smrt, stvaranje, ljubav, Jungovo vidjenje simbolike umetničkog stvaranja.
